Présentation de l'intervention

PICCH explores how archival material created in a colonial mindset can be re-appropriated and re-interpreted to become an effective source for decolonization and the basis for a future inclusive society. The French component is led by Sophie Gebeil (TELEMMe), a media and immigration historian. The team also includes Christine Mussard, a historian from IREMAM, and Véronique Ginouvès from La Phonothèque de la MMSH. The project benefits from a partnership with INA.

The team’s work revolves around three distinct directions:

  1. An archival axis led by Véronique Ginouvès.
  2. A colonial history axis, led by Christine Mussard, who has researched television representations of schools during the Algerian War.
  3. A media history axis within a postcolonial perspective and connected to digital humanities.

This presentation will be jointly delivered by Mara Bertelsen from PICCH and Sophie Gebeil.
