Résumé :

AixOPERA est un programme de recherche financé par A*Midex (Initiative d’excellence d’Aix-Marseille Université), qui explore l’histoire de l’opéra sous un angle pluridisciplinaire.

Le Festival international d’art lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence, manifestation musicale majeure depuis la fin de la Seconde guerre mondiale, a produit un riche patrimoine, dont la Ville d’Aix-en-Provence est aujourd’hui la principale dépositaire. Le partenariat d’Aix-Marseille Université avec le Festival d’Aix et les institutions culturelles de la Ville d’Aix-en-Provence autour du projet AixOPERA entreprend un important travail de recherche et de valorisation du patrimoine du Festival : décors, costumes et objets de la scène issus des productions d’opéra qui se tiennent à Aix-en-Provence depuis 1948, mais aussi archives sonores et audiovisuelles.

Le projet a pour objectif d’inventorier, de préserver, de valoriser et de rendre accessibles des collections éparses et méconnues et multipliera les initiatives de sensibilisation et de médiation dans le domaine de l’opéra et des arts du spectacle. AixOPÉRA permettra ainsi d’enrichir la compréhension de l’univers de l’opéra, de préserver un patrimoine d’exception et de donner accès à de riches collections de l’art lyrique et du spectacle vivant, notamment par le biais de nouveaux usages du numérique au service du patrimoine.

Abstract :

The AixOPERA project (2024-2027), funded by A*Midex (Excellence Initiative of the University of Aix-Marseille), explores the history of opera from a multidisciplinary perspective.

The Festival international d’art lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence, a major musical event since the end of the Second World War, has created a rich heritage of which the city of Aix-en-Provence is now the main depositary. The partnership between the University of Aix-Marseille, the Festival d’Aix and the cultural institutions of the city of Aix-en-Provence in the AixOPERA project is undertaking a major project to research and develop the Festival’s heritage: the sets, costumes and scenery of the operas performed in Aix-en-Provence since 1948, as well as the sound and audiovisual archives.

The aim of the project is to inventory, preserve, promote and make accessible these scattered and little-known collections, as well as to raise awareness and promote initiatives in the field of opera and the performing arts. In this way, AixOPÉRA will contribute to a better understanding of the universe of opera, preserve an exceptional heritage and provide access to rich collections of opera and the performing arts, in particular through new uses of digital technology for cultural heritage.
